A winter storm brought snow and ice to the South Island and southern tip of the North Island and it was cold. The rain didn't help much, either.
It's hard to believe temperatures are in the 90's at home in Alabama, a mere 8,000 miles and another hemisphere away. By the way, the lady who operates the dry cleaners that I use in Birmingham looked at me rather funny when I brought my coat in to be cleaned on an extremely hot day several days after I returned home.
