This picture shows the inside of the Queen Victoria Building (QVB) which was built in 1893 to celebrate the diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria. Up until the 1980's, the building was the location of the City of Sydney Public Library. Because of its state of disrepair, the Queen Victoria Building was scheduled to be torn down. However, a group of Malaysians purchased it and restored it in time for the 1988 Bicentennial.
Today the Queen Victoria Building contains four floors of speciality shops and restaurants. It is know as the "crown jewel of the city's centre."
