Is this a ball of fur? No, it's an angora rabbit. At the Shearing Shed in Waitomo, NZ, these rabbits are sheared every three months and their fur is used to make knitted goods. Angora fiber is famous for its warm, soft qualities.

Because of cross breeding over the years, these angora rabbits are unable to shed their fur naturally. If the rabbit is not sheared, it could literally suffocate in its own fur. Periodic shearing eliminates this and provides the soft fiber that is so delightful to wear.
